Weight Watchers Pro Points

As some of you may know, I have been following the Weight Watchers Pro Points Diet since 1st January this year and its going really well! Well I think so anyway! I follow the online diet as I wouldn't be able to commit to going to meetings.

To be honest, I haven't been quite as strict as I was in the first few weeks when more significant weight dropped off but I am happy with the way things are going because the weight loss has slowed down (but still going down!!) to a more manageable way of eating.

What has helped me the most is the mentality of eating. What I mean is I have learnt what portion sizes and quantity of food I can eat in a day within a manageable limit. I can still treat myself to a packet of crisps with a glass of wine and I can still have a biscuit or cake as long I don't over-indulge during the rest of the day.

In my first week I lost 7lbs and felt amazing but I was realistic that this wasn't going to happen every week (I think there is a lot of fluid retention that is lost first or something!) and I have happily been losing a couple of pounds every week or plateau'd when we came to having a more indulgent week's holiday at Easter (I was surprised that I didn't put any weight on but I was also reasonably careful in that I didn't have heavy calorie laden cream teas and generally just ate like we do at home).

I guess I could be losing the weight now at a quicker rate if I was as strict as the first few weeks where I didn't touch my weekly points but to be honest, after a tiring and sometimes stressful day I will treat myself to a glass of wine or two whether it is within my daily or weekly points. I do need to up the exercise though! I'm lucky if I get to go swimming once a week at mo because I need to get my parents to mind the little ones and it isn't like they don't do enough babysitting and helping out already!

I tend to eat as 'normally' as possible but within reasonable limits so if I am cooking the girls something with rice for tea, as I am more frequently using Tilda or Uncle Ben's Express Basmati Rice, I know that half a pouch is 5 points. Wherea,s if i was to cook a pan of basmati rice I would have to measure my portion out to ensure I wasn't over indulging. I have discovered some 'favourite' recipes from their website though so I will try to add these to this page soon.

You can keep up with my progress with the weight loss ticker at the bottom of my main blog page.
